Simon Nielsen | DSc
Geologist
Simon is from Denmark and came to New Zealand after living in Norway, USA and
Japan. He joined the Kenex team in December 2011. His previous experience
includes research in marine geology, paleoclimate and volcanic geochemistry of
the Antarctic region. He has also held a variety of roles as geologist in marine
scientific drilling and coring.
Outside work, he enjoys water sports, rock climbing, travelling, tramping,
torturing his wife by playing jazz/rock guitar, and photography.
Experience:
- 4 years of post-doctoral research
- 2 years as core sample curator
- 2 years as IODP expedition project manager
Education:
- Candidate of Science, Geology (equivalent of MSc Hons.) - University of Copenhagen
- Doctorate of Science (PhD) - Tromsų Univeristy
Job Role at Kenex:
- Collection and collation of GIS data from mineral reports
- Assisting clients with geological projects
