Katie Peters | BSc, MSc Hons.

Geologist / GIS Analyst

 

Katie has been working full time for Kenex since finishing her MSc in Structural Geology in early 2007. She is involved in the collection and management of data as well as mineral prospectivity modelling in Papua New Guinea and Turkey.

Aside from geology Katie has a keen interest in renewable energy and has had a lead role in developing wind farm predictive modelling techniques that have been used to find new wind farm sites in New Zealand and are currently being implemented overseas.

Katie has presented her mineral exploration and wind energy models at NZ and international conferences helping to market Kenex’s predictive modelling capabilities.

 

Katie is now working in the office on Thursdays and Fridays only, being the happy but busy mum of little Finlay.

 

Experience:

  • Three years in the mineral exploration and GIS Industries with Kenex.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (Geology) - 2004 Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Master of Science with Honours (Geology) - 2007 Victoria University of Wellington.
  • VIEPS Geology of Gold Short Course 2008 held at Melbourne University.

  • Managing wind modelling projects

  • Developing GIS spatial data modelling tools for wind farm predictive modelling
  • Creating predictive models to identify potential wind farm sites in New Zealand for Genesis Energy
  • Porphyry Cu-Au prospectivity modelling in Papua New Guinea
  • Epithermal Au and porphyry Cu-Au prospectivity modelling in Western Turkey
